South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project Management Team
The Southbay Engineers Club is pleased to welcome Pat Showalter for a fascinating lunchtime presentation on the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project, the largest tidal wetland restoration project on the West Coast. When complete, the project will restore 15,100 acres of industrial salt ponds to a rich mosaic of tidal wetlands and other habitats. Ms. Showalter will provide an update on accomplishments to date and future plans for more restoration, trails and flood management.
Our Presenter: Pat Showalter is a professional engineer with over 30 years of experience in water resources management & more than 20 years of public service as a government employee. She represents the Santa Clara Valley Water District on the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project Management Team.
Ms. Showalter is the current Mayor of Mountain View, where she serves on numerous local and regional boards and commissions, including the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority. Pat was recognized as the Creek Advocate of the Year by the Santa Clara County Creeks Coalition in 2010. Pat earned a Bachelor of Science from Mount Holyoke College in Geology and History and a Masters in Engineering Science from UC Berkeley.
